The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts is affiliated with the Ministry of Culture. It is the only national-level art museum in Taiwan and one of the largest art museums in Asia. It is located in the center of Taichung City with convenient transportation. The museum covers an area of about three hectares and was opened in 1988. The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts is surrounded by famous attractions such as the National Museum of Natural Science, the Art Parkway shopping district, and Calligraphy Greenway. The unique artistic atmosphere has driven the nearby art and commercial activities, forming a living circle and tourist recreation area full of artistic atmosphere.
The museum's architectural space emphasizes openness and modernity, with a simple and neat shape, descending in steps, and natural stone slabs as the main exterior decoration material. The spacious garden displays exquisite sculptures, and there is a forest of stele square with calligraphy works collected from Taiwan's predecessors.
A large glass curtain on the south side brings in natural light, creating a rugged and intertwined scene of light and shadow inside the building. As time and weather change, the building changes in layers of light and shadow, making the building and the sky become one.

The library, audio-visual art hall, audio-visual platform, teacher resource room and other learning and leisure spaces allow visitors to get close to and explore art in a variety of forms. There is also a children's picture book area and a children's playroom specially set up for parents and children, allowing children to experience hand-made interactions in a happy learning environment. Spaces such as the Digital Art Ark and the Information Transfer Station allow people to experience digital art and feel the new world where technology and humanities are combined. The museum also has a boutique and a classical rose garden, Chun Shui Tang, and Qiu Shan Tang.
In addition, the elegant Art Parkway and Greenway in front of the museum are full of European-style buildings and Japanese garden landscapes. There are many unique restaurants and cafes on both sides, combining creativity with the visual and taste experience of exotic delicacies, which will immediately make people forget the hustle and bustle of the city.
